About Yellow River Mother Sculpture
Introduction
The Yellow River Mother Sculpture is located in the middle section of Binhe Road on the south bank of the Yellow River, north of Xiaoxihu Park, Lanzhou City. It was completed by the Beijing Sculpture Factory on April 30, 1986. The material used for the sculpture is ordinary granite, which better represents the color of the Yellow River and the skin tone of the descendants of Yan and Huang. The rough texture of the granite also seems to tell the story of the vicissitudes and great changes中华民族 has experienced over thousands of years. The composition is concise, with profound meanings, symbolizing the Yellow River mother who nurtures the Chinese nation's continuous growth and unyielding spirit, and the happy and thriving descendants of the Chinese nation. The base of the Yellow River Mother Sculpture is engraved with water wave and fish patterns, originating from the original patterns of ancient Gansu painted pottery, reflecting the long history and culture of Gansu. It has become a landmark attraction in Lanzhou due to its unique aesthetic value and ideological content.
